In chapter three of our books talked about operating systems. The chapter covered five main points about operating systems: The history of Operating Systems, the software survey, the coordinating machines activities, how to handle components among the processes, and security. In a similar way the campus visits that are set up through the admissions office, resemble on operating system and these points.
When a visit day is planned, the coordinators work together as the operating system to make sure that the day is filled with all of the information that is need to give the prospective students the ability to make a informed choice of rather or not they want to come to hope as a student. The first thing that visitors hear when they come to a visit day, is the background and history of hope. Then as their tour of the campus moves on, they learn additional information about all of the buildings and programs. The second thing that the visitors learn, is how important the student and parent voice is to the campus. In this way, they learn about all the ways that surveys and votes are made by the students and parents to ensure that what is happening around hope is what they want to see. One of the most important tasks of planning a visit day, is handling all of the agendas among the visitors. The Admissions reps and the visit day coordinators work together to plan out a visit day that enriches the life of every student and parent that comes. They spend time getting to know the prospective students, so that they can discover their interests and apply them to a schedule for their visit day that allows them to envision where they fit in at Hope. The coordinators of the visit days try their best to make sure that the visit days are scheduled around activities of the campus. This is to ensure that the visitors are able to get a full grasp on what life at Hope consists of. The last thing that the visitors learn about when they come to Hope, is the security measures. The admissions reps feel that it is important for the students and their parents to feel safe of where they are at, so they take extra time asking and answering any questions that come up about the security protocols that are established on and off campus.
This brings us to the end of the examples that shows us how the visit days at Hope resemble Operating Systems.
